Goodwill Baptist Youth Group

Our youth group, at Goodwill Baptist Church, put together care packages
for us to take with us to Ethiopia.
They seemed to have a good time gathering the items and writing each child a note.

Nate, Josh, Nathan, Will, and Abby put together 10 care packages
for our team to take with us to Ethiopia

Deana, one of our youth leaders, assisted them in coming up with bible verses to
use in their letters to the children.  We would like to thank all the youth
leaders, especially Donnay, for getting this project together.

Abby is going with us to Ethiopia, this will be her second trip and her excitement is contagious.

WE HAVE T-SHIRTS!!!

We are so happy because...
WE HAVE T-SHIRTS!!!!
This has been really stressing Deanna but we finally have them and they have all been donated. These shirts will be used for an arts and crafts project Deanna is going to do with the kids. Without the shirts, the project is a tough one to do( LOL!!). Thank you all that have donated shirts to us.
A sample of the shirts they are going to make. This one says "Jesus loves me" in Amharic.

This is really getting ready to happen...I mean really, Derek and Deanna Lawson are going to Ethiopia. It seems like just yesterday we sent out letters saying that we are going. It's all getting ready to sort of sink in that we are going across the "big pond" soon!!!
Derek

THANK YOU!!

We DID IT!!  We have reached our Mission Trip Fund Goal!!

We are so excited, happy, and thankful for everything God
has given us for this journey we are about to take to Ethiopia.

7 months ago we never thought this day would come and we can't believe we are actually going to be on a plane with our team to Ethiopia in a month

Derek and I would like to Thank everyone who has donated supplies,
funds for our trip and prayers!

EGGLINGS

We are thankful for a donation made by a young lady at church, Maggy.  She felt led to contribute to our trip fund by making something to sale.  She made these cute little EGGLINGS and sold them to her friends and explained to them what we were going to be doing in Ethiopia.  It is amazing that a child in today's world would  want to do something like this for others.  We are grateful that God is in her heart!

Prayers and Soup

Hello Everyone,

Many of you know Derek and I are venturing out to Ethiopia to several orphanages where we will be putting on a VBS type program and showing these kids that people do care for them....most of all to share God's love with them.

Derek and I, along with our team, would like to Thank all of you for your donations and prayers thus far.   We are currently still in need of youth large t-shirts,  Adult medium t-shirts ( not white), fabric puff paint as well as Different colors of Duct Tape for the art projects we will be doing with the kids in Ethiopia.

Derek and I are still in need of funds to get us there.  Currently all the funds are due March 21st and all the art project donations are due March 15th.  This will give us time to get a final count and distribute the supplies to each of the 16 people going.  We can only take (2) 50lb bags a piece so we have to figure out who is taking what.

For those of you who are buying soup or who have already bought soup....it will be made this weekend and you can pick it up at our house on the 11th or we will deliver it to you house if you would like.  Just let us know!

We are holding a Soup Fundraiser to continue to raise money for our Mission Trip to Ethiopia!!

You have the choice between CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP  or  BROCCOLI AND CHEESE SOUP which is being sold by the quart.  Each quart is $7.50 and your entire purchase amount will go toward our mission funds.

We will take orders for 2 weeks then the SOUPS will be HOME MADE and ready for PICK-UP or DELIVERY on the WEEKEND of MARCH 10th.

Soup is easy to freeze and warm up on a cold day!!  Both soups will be made by Derek and Deanna with the help of our parents.

Project Sew Important Update

Project Sew Important is up and running great!!  Our group has had several Saturday sewing days to make these reusable feminine products.  Here are pictures from the sewing day we had with some friends from work and family.  Each girl (96) at the orphanage we will be at will get 2 of these  reusable products with 6-8 liners.  These girls can not afford feminine hygiene products, therefor when they are on their period the stay at home and miss school.  We want to change this and allow these girls the opportunity to stay at school during this sensitive time.
